Cooking Sambal Prawn with Petai

Superhero Mum bought some petai (smelly green bean thingee) for the two superheroes to bring back to KL over the weekend. Knowing that the smelly petai is Superhero S's favourite, she got me a whole bunch from the pasar malam at RM3.

Expensive huh. Haha. Never mind, expensive but I likeeeee..... :p

Since Superhero W has been such a sweetie for bringing me to Genki Sushi for a nice Japanese fast food, I decided to cook him a nice meal to pamper his expanding waistline. Now he looks like a pregnant superhero. Haha.

So here comes Sambal Prawn with Petai in the making. Superhero W decided to take candid snapshots while I was busy preparing the ingredients for the meal. There's the petai, the prawn, the finely-chopped garlic and dried shrimps to complement the sambal.

petai

prawn

garlic

dried shrimps

Ta-da! Sambal Prawn with Petai. My first attempt. *blushing*

A lot of petai huh?? Oh... I can't wait for my fart and my pee to smell of petai! *grins devilishly* I just realized that the petai is in fact more expensive than the prawns! Got the prawns at RM1.15 from Tesco. :p

So what else was on the menu? Stir-fried chinese cabbage with Japanese choy sum. I put in some additional abalone mushrooms, anchovies and ginger for that extra kick. :p

Think it's a strange combi, cabbage and choy sum? No choice lah. This is the only way to get Superhero W to eat some green vegetables. *wink*

And finally there's the traditional Baked Beans with LOTSA Eggs. OH I love eggs. :p

Superhero W loved the Sambal Petai with Prawns to the max. He even learnt how to eat petai for the first time! Haha. And now he's complaining how his sh!t even smells of petai. Hmmph. Haha.

erk.. who are they? hehehe..

And a meal's never complete without our favourite 7-up Revive! Look who's hiding behind the Revive! Haha. :p
*burp* And the two superheroes are once again feeling full and contented. We can now fly away happily. :p

Mom will usually add in some cut brinjals in my sambal petal to 'cut' down the smell...

Brinjal?? But the dish is meant to have that overpowering petai smell mah, adik l'abeille. Hahah...

Never mind, next time I'll try putting in some brinjals and see what happens. :p

the brinjal will not take away the taste but to "counter" that smelly pee and breath effect after that sinful meal ...

try cooking something with brinjal like a separate dish ... or i try to have petai only on weekends ...

i dont wanna let go some funny smell nor do i wan the guy peeing in that next cubicle to look at me in a very weird rude look ...

:D
