Happy Birthday, Superhero S!

On November 24th, some two days ago... a cute, pretty superhero celebrated her birthday!! Haha... Ahem. So Superhero S literally celebrated half of her birthday whilst holidaying in Singapore with Superhero W and a couple of their good friends, braving the foreign Singapore road in an adorable, little Savvy! *grins*

It was such a wonderful (and tiring!) experience after all the crazy shopping, feeding frenzy, relaxing, driving, and the horror of finding car park during the weekends in Singapore malls. Haha. So after all of us came back on late 24th evening, we couldn't wait to crash onto our beds! Oh man... And despite all the good foodie in Singapore... we still miss Malaysian food!!! Haha... :p

So for Superhero S' birthday, we spent the night strolling around, enjoying the atmosphere at Clarke Quay... while looking for a suitable place for the celebration. Unfortunately, Superhero S was dead tired after 2 days of endless adventure, she decided that it would be best to grab some food from good ol' McDonald's, fly back to the hotel room and crash there!

And so we did! Here's Superhero S' slice of birthday cake from McCafe... Yummylicious Oreo Cheesecake!

"Happy Birthday to me...!" Haha.. :p
And once back again in KL, Superhero W surprised me with this sweet sweet birthday card!

Awww..... Thank you, baby Superhero W!!! *a zillion hugs and kisses*
Look at how BIG my birthday card is!!

And my 2nd slice of birthday cake from Secret Recipe, Chocolate Fudge. This time around, there's a candle! YAY!!

Thanks guys and baby, for giving me such fond memories for my birthday! :p

We're going to Singapore!!!

The two superheroes will soon be hitching a ride on a cute little savvy with a couple of our good friends for a much-awaited foodie adventure in Singapore!! Haha... *superheroes in tights jumping around with joy*

This will officially be Superhero W's first time crossing the borders over to the Lion City, so he's really awfully excited about it! And it's our second foodie adventure of the year (out of KL and Malacca) after our trip to Kuching, Sarawak earlier this year! So this time around, we'll be heading off in the wee hours of Saturday morning and back home again on Monday... Ahh....

"WE CAN'T WAIT!!!!"

Oh, and best of all, Superhero S gets to celebrate her birthday there!! Yaaaaaay....... Oh gosh, another year older soon. Gulp.

So see you all, and for those who are still hesitating whether or not you should be taking a break from your job or business or whatever it is that you are working on, just one word... "GO!!!!!". You deserve it. Haha.... *wink wink*

Oh wait, does anyone have any good foodie recommendations on what to eat and where to go in Singapore??

Nasi Kerabu Ayam Percik & Nyonya Laksa from Laksa Shack

Right after recovering from food poisoning, Superhero S actually cheated another round of food poisoning by successfully retaining her bowel even after downing a nice, big bowl of Nyonya Laksa from Laksa Shack, Mid Valley. Haha. :p

Yes, so here's the story...
The two superheroes flew over to Mid Valley to catch up on some yummylicious dinner after eating mostly bland food for a week when nursing Superhero S' diarrhea. So the both of us were in the mood to pamper our tummy with something that is definitely more provocative! *wink*

Since we haven't had Laksa Shack for more than a year (omg!), we decided, what the heck... just go for it lah! We kinda missed the hot and spicy food, and since the temptation was just too great to resist, we immediately flew into the restaurant and ordered our favourite foodies. Superhero W had a craving for rice, and ordered his Nasi Kerabu Ayam Percik (RM15.90) because he was reminiscing about his Mum's cooking back in Sabah.

Check out his large plate of nasi kerabu!
There's even an otak-otak as a side serving, and a small bowl of really really REALLY thick (and immensely flavourful) Sup Tulang. The omelette was atop his rice, and what's best about this dish is their chicken thigh serving! OMG... it's HUGE...!! Without hesitating, we dug into the rice while waiting for Superhero S' Nyonya Laksa (RM9.90).

And soonafter... the waiter brought her bowl of laksa...
The laksa kuah was really sinfully thick with the coconut milk and absolutely fragrant with all the herbs. Yummmmmy...!! If only it could have been given a stronger hint of spicyness, this bowl would've turned out much better. :p

For drinks, we decided to skip the usual soft drinks or sirap bandung thingee and went for their Cendol. Their serving of cendol is indeed very very generous with a beautiful mountain of shredded ice with all the sweet sweet sugar syrup. The best thing was, it didn't felt anything like 'drinking' a big bowl of sugar syrup at all! Haha. Too bad the ingredients weren't that plentiful...

All in all, we had a great time digging into our delicious dinner at Laksa Shack. Nice ambience, nice food... Hopefully it won't be another year before we indulge in the yummy food here again! *grins*

Cupcakes from D'lish

On a one fine day, Superhero S received a pleasant surprise...

A box. Yes... Haha... A box with a seal that reads, "Yum...", with a d'lish signature. I mean, who...WHO can resist opening that?? Haha.. :p

My fingers started to itch, so I slowly peeled off the seal... only to reveal...

Two cute pink cupcakes! Awwww......... that's so sweet... I'm sure they were bought from the d'lish over at Bangsar... Haha.
Well, it was a gift, I shouldn't complaint... but since I've been having an overload of cuppies of late, the huge pink cuppies seemed pretty... *ahem* :p

It was meant for a friend and I, but we were soooo unable to finish it because for once, Superhero S was feeling rather sick of cuppies... But if I were to compare this with the other cuppies I've tasted, I would say that dear Y's home made cuppies are the best of the lot! Haha. *grins*

Dear Y's cutie cuppies...

Superhero S has been down recently with a bad case of food poisoning, which explains our lack of foodie adventures recently. Well, this IS the sacrifice we're willing to make to experiment with all sorts of foodie available! Haha.. But don't worry, she's all well now. *Superhero S flying around happily to Superhero W*

"YAY...!!!" Food...here we come again!! :p

Chatterbox at Bangsar Village

One fine afternoon, Superhero S' cutesy and oh-so-sweet friend, Debbie decided to fly over to Bangsar Village for a wonderful makan-makan session! After walking around the complex hunting for what's going to be our lunch, Debbie suggested that we head over to Chatterbox because she has heard much about the restaurant and has been wanting to try out the foodie there. No objections as the full crowd in the cosy corner lot restaurant certainly speaks volume about the food here! Haha. :p

We found a nice seat somewhere near a corner, and took a quick browse over at the menu. The menu lists a wide range of food varieties, typical of those Hong Kong restaurants - all the way from simple toasts, cheese-baked rice, right through to little munchies such as fried dumplings! *drooling...*

After working really hard to narrow down our choices (everything just seems so delicious!!), Superhero S finally settled for their Fried Spaghetti with Black Pepper Chicken Chop while Debbie went for their XO Fried Rice with Seafood. I would've loved to include the pricing for both items as well but...sadly, my brain has limited capacity in the short term memory compartment. *blushing* But most food fall within a reasonable range, from RM5 to RM20 if I'm not mistaken.

We decided to go light on our drinks and ordered 2 hot Chinese Tea. These days, I've been going into a craze over hot Chinese Tea. Haha. I seem to wanna drink it with everything else! And our food arrived soonafter...

My Fried Spaghetti with Black Pepper Chicken looked really really inviting indeed! OH.... I hadn't expect the spaghetti to be fried in black pepper sauce as well! And the looks turned out to be oh-so-true! Beautifully fried with just enough sauce, and with such a big big portion to it...this is really value for money...!!

Debbie's XO Fried Rice with Seafood was no disappointment either. I took a mouthful off the huge plate of rice and it was fantastic! There were also big prawns in accompaniment with the rice, and the rice is truly very fragrant. Loved it! :p

Debbie apparently loves snacks very much, so much so that she decided to call for their Fried Wantons with came in a set of 6! The wantons were considerably huge in size, and it's filled with loads of minced porky and prawns! The dip sauce is already rather special, being more like the thousand island sauce. Haha. Sounds strange, but when combined, they go really well together with the crunchy skin of the wanton absolutely delightful!

In fact, we loved the foodie there so much, both of us decided to make a second trip there the very next day! Haha. Yeah...we are a little crazy up there. *grins*
Since Superhero S had already taken a pretty heavy breakfast of Chee Cheong Fun, bought from the Lucky Garden morning wet market (Yes, the same place where I bought my much loved nasi lemak), I decided to just go for their French Toast.

Check out the nice big jar of honey that came along with my toast! Oh, they are just soooooo generous!! Most of the time, the other restaurants would only give a tiny bit portion of the honey and you would have to request for more. I literally flooded my toast later on with the oh-so-sweet honey because I love honey!! Haha.. :p

Debbie, on the other hand, went for their Baked Cheese Rice, which turned out to be delightfully delicious as well. However, the portion of the rice sure wasn't as big as her XO Fried Rice she had the day before. The Baked Cheese Rice actually came with a nice little bowl of soup, which I had forgotten to take a picture of. Haha.

The best thing was, we didn't know that the owner of the restaurant is actually one of Debbie's friends! And she happened to be there on our first occasion there and quietly paid off our meal before we could even shout, "BILL, please!" Haha. Thank you so much for the wonderful meal!

All in all, this is certainly one of the better places to eat around Bangsar with it's affordable pricing, delicious cookings and nice, comfy ambience! Will certainly be back for more with Superhero W. Haha. :p
