Nasi Kerabu Ayam Percik & Nyonya Laksa from Laksa Shack

Right after recovering from food poisoning, Superhero S actually cheated another round of food poisoning by successfully retaining her bowel even after downing a nice, big bowl of Nyonya Laksa from Laksa Shack, Mid Valley. Haha. :p

Yes, so here's the story...
The two superheroes flew over to Mid Valley to catch up on some yummylicious dinner after eating mostly bland food for a week when nursing Superhero S' diarrhea. So the both of us were in the mood to pamper our tummy with something that is definitely more provocative! *wink*

Since we haven't had Laksa Shack for more than a year (omg!), we decided, what the heck... just go for it lah! We kinda missed the hot and spicy food, and since the temptation was just too great to resist, we immediately flew into the restaurant and ordered our favourite foodies. Superhero W had a craving for rice, and ordered his Nasi Kerabu Ayam Percik (RM15.90) because he was reminiscing about his Mum's cooking back in Sabah.

Check out his large plate of nasi kerabu!
There's even an otak-otak as a side serving, and a small bowl of really really REALLY thick (and immensely flavourful) Sup Tulang. The omelette was atop his rice, and what's best about this dish is their chicken thigh serving! OMG... it's HUGE...!! Without hesitating, we dug into the rice while waiting for Superhero S' Nyonya Laksa (RM9.90).

And soonafter... the waiter brought her bowl of laksa...
The laksa kuah was really sinfully thick with the coconut milk and absolutely fragrant with all the herbs. Yummmmmy...!! If only it could have been given a stronger hint of spicyness, this bowl would've turned out much better. :p

For drinks, we decided to skip the usual soft drinks or sirap bandung thingee and went for their Cendol. Their serving of cendol is indeed very very generous with a beautiful mountain of shredded ice with all the sweet sweet sugar syrup. The best thing was, it didn't felt anything like 'drinking' a big bowl of sugar syrup at all! Haha. Too bad the ingredients weren't that plentiful...

All in all, we had a great time digging into our delicious dinner at Laksa Shack. Nice ambience, nice food... Hopefully it won't be another year before we indulge in the yummy food here again! *grins*

Buka puasa at Manhattan Fish Market, Midvalley

The two superheroes have been awfully busy of late. But as usual, there is always time for FOOD! Haha. Since it's the month of Ramadhan, it also means that it's the fasting season for our Muslim friends and family. On most days, Superhero S will be fighting against time to whip up a sumptuous meal for buka puasa, while on some other days, we would be most happy to settle for Ramadhan bazaars or eating out at restaurants. *grins*

So sometime at the beginning of the fasting month, we decided to fly over to Manhattan Fish Market at Midvalley Megamall for some oh-so-fishy meal! We initially intended to dine at Kenny Rogers but the awfully "friendly" waiters there looked like they were on the verge of chasing us away to make way for the buka puasa crowd. Honestly, we saw many empty tables that didn't carry any reservation tags. But oh well, since they actually didn't believe that Superhero W was also fasting at that time, we decided to heck with stupid Kenny Rogers and walked a few shops down to MFM. Hmmph!

Since we haven't been to MFM for a pretty long time now, we were looking forward to the foodie there too. We arrived just before the buka puasa crowd started pouring in, and chose a nice table for two at the corner. A quick browse of the menu, and we were ready to order. *stomach growling...*

Despite the waiter's recommendation to try out their Buka Puasa set, Superhero S was adamant in going for their Grilled Norwegian King Salmon Fillet, described as "naturally grilled in basic salt and pepper topped with Manhattan garlic butter sauce".

On the other hand, Superhero W decided to satisfy his tummy by ordering the Flaming Platter for One, "one large grilled catch of the day with our award winning flaming prawns".

For drinks, just a glass of soft drink for Superhero W...

The crowd was certainly growing by the minute. But in spite of that, we were served pretty quickly really. I absolutely loved my chunk of salmon fillet for its pure simplicity and don't even get me going on and on about their butter garlic rice! So delicious....!!! Haha. Or perhaps I was really hungry then; I don't know! But I think I'd still have to say that the monstrous salmon chunk in the Salmon and Vegetable Skillet at Bubba Gump Shrimps remains the better choice. Haha. :p

As for Superhero W's platter, the fishy was really huge! Oh so worth it! Very nicely done too, nicely grilled. And the prawns were deliciously topped with a good layer of lightly grilled cheese. I believe Superhero W truly enjoyed this meal!

All in all, I would say we had a good time here at Manhattan Fish Market, with good service from the friendly waiter, much unlike those in Kenny Rogers!

Chocolate Dipped Waffle at Baskin Robbins

Some weeks before our romantic candle light-on-cake dinner for two, the two superheroes had flown to their favourite haunt, Sushi Zanmai at the Gardens to satisfy our cravings for Japanese foodie. However, this time around, we got clever and put ourselves on control mode and ordered just enough a portion for our tummy. Haha.

Yeah, so that means... we still have space for dessert! YAY! So after the fabulous meal at Zanmai, we were walking around Mid Valley when we spotted this...

OH! Baskin Robbins... *starts singing, "oooo what's your flavour...."* Haha. :p
Both of us turned to look at each other, and with a big big smile, we flew over to the Baskin Robbins to dig into some sinful ice cream!

We actually stood there to run through the menu for the longest time, and still couldn't decide what to order, until we saw the person standing right before us walking away with...

OMG. "WE WANT THAT ONE...!!"
Haha. And that was how we decided on our ice cream. Yes, it's one of their signature sundaes, the Chocolate Dipped Waffle priced at almost RM20 after tax. Wow...RM20 for ice cream! Haha. Yeah, we weren't thinking straight at that time! :p

Superhero S went for their Chocolate Mint flavour while Superhero W went for one of their rich chocolate flavours. So here we have it, a double scooped ice cream on a chocolate coated crispy waffle, topped with whipped cream, even more melted chocolate and a cherry!

Stay away from this post if you're currently on a diet. Haha.
Well, I guess it's too late now if you're already reading this! *evil grin*. But hey, you can always head over to Gelato Fruity just nearby for some less sinful dessert. :p

So if you're asking us if it's worth it or not, we'd say "Fantastic ice cream, super rich and super duper fattening... but it's all worth it!". Haha. We got hordes of people staring at us while we were digging our ice cream. Every little kid, every adult, every single thing that walks! Haha. Hey maybe the next time around, we'll head over to Haagen Daz instead to try out their signatures. OH! *melting...*

Nakajima Sushi Set - Our favourite movie snack

Ever since the two superheroes have been going on a regular movie routine every Wednesday (tough times calls for cheap movie tickets! Haha), they have been sick of eating all those unhealthy and super fattening caramel popcorns from GSC. So they figured, perhaps it's time to tukar gaya hidup and go for some healthier alternatives instead! :p

And sometime ago, they actually successfully sneaked a big box of Sushi into the cineplex when they were off to watch Indiana Jones, right before their big Tony Roma's meal at the Gardens. Since Superhero S usually carries a rather big bag because she likes to put her comb, notebook, another notebook, tissue papers, little water bottle, long purse, handphone and some toys inside, carrying one more item is no big deal.

So of course there's always room for our... Nakajima Sushi Set!

Oh yeah... this is our favourite set because of the nice variety inside. Bought from Jusco Supermarket (yes, we banned the vegetables but not the sushi! Haha :p) for only RM9.88, this is definitely a much healthier and delicious option to replace our popcorns! *drools*

Look, there's even some wasabi and soy sauce for a little dip dip. But since we're eating in a cineplex, unless we'd want to get wasabi + soy sauce all over our clothes and hands and legs, we kindly left those two alone as we whacked all the different sushi varieties.

We couldn't really tell you the names of the sushi since they're obviously not stated here, but we can roughly make out what they are. There's the Cucumber Sushi, Egg Sushi, Octopus Sushi, Salad Sushi, Crabmeat Sushi, Salmon Sushi and some egg roe-coated sushi with a combination of cucumber, egg and crabmeat! Those are the yummiest!! Haha. :p

The best thing about eating these little sushis in the cineplex is that, the air-con inside makes it cold... And we love chilled sushi! *starts drooling again!*

So next time, go carry a big bag and stuff your sushi set inside. Haha. *whispers* Don't tell people I teach you all that okay? *wink wink*

Move over Mega Mac, here comes...

We realized that we've not had fast foodie for a period of time now. Yes, we are fast becoming healthy eaters with all the home cooking. Haha. But just the other day, the two superheroes had this sudden urge and strong desire to sink their teeth into some unhealthy big fat burger! :p

So we were off to Burger King's at Midvalley to feast on their super beef burgers because the ones in McDonald's just couldn't make the cut. After being let down by the "I'm lovin' it" guys so many times when it comes to their beef burgers, we couldn't even make ourselves to try the "ultimate" Mega Mac. Because it looks so small in real life, it makes even a whopper junior look huge. Urgh...

In down times like these, it's time to make our money worth by going for some real burgers! No, not Carl's Jr or Wendy's because we've still yet to try them though we've heard some raving reviews. OH... can't wait to try 'em! Haha. Okay, but in the meantime, we are certain that Burger King's beef burgers will always be superior to McD's - anytime! Haha. *grins*

omigosh...it's even eating our fries!!! :p

So move over Mega Mac, here comes Burger King's Black Pepper Deluxe Triple, nicknamed "For the really really hungry"! (or was it super super hungry?!) Beat this. Three thick layers of beef patties in one burger. This is heaven... As there is no way Superhero S can eat that much beef, the big, fat burger goes to...

Superhero W...!! *cheers*

Oh, look at the thickness of the burger and the amount of beef on it! Yummmmmy....

And yeah, that Whopper Jr belongs to Superhero S. Haha. It's her favourite, you see... And not to forget, a whole lot of addictive fries to pump in the unhealthy fats...

And our delicious Mozarella Cheese Sticks being surrounded (ambushed!) by our chilli sauce... Haha.

These three little cheese sticks are really made in heaven... So soft and cheesy in the inside, and yet so crispy on the outside! A must-order for us every time we make our way to BK.

But after having so much beefie...I don't think we'll be stepping foot into Burger King's for a long time now. Haha. And I know my Superhero Bro has already banned BK in the States. Food for the poor people eh, bro? :p
